Why am I writing this thing?
This brain-child has been stewing around in my noggin for quite some time. See, I started getting into video games not for the adrenaline or frantic finger-punching but because of the stories that can be told through video games. My problem was, I couldn’t really find a community dedicated to talking about that. (I’m pretty new to the gamer community as a whole).
I’m starting this blog as a way to get these ideas and theories off of my chest, but also – I hope – to start a discussion with people who are also interested. I encourage anyone and everyone to comment – to dispute, add to, modify or suggest a completely new theory for what I’m posting. It’s all just my opinion/analysis. I think it would be great if we could have some interesting (and respectful) discussions. One of the cool things about humans is we have such different perspectives on the world. You might see something that I didn’t, and vice-versa. Let’s swap some theories and make each other see things a different way. Even if they are just crackpot theories about a main character’s parentage (we all know G-man is Gordon’s father!).*
Suggestions about games to watch/play are always welcome, as are ideas/crackpot theories for blog posts.
I’m a nondescript gamer who has the winning combination of poor hand-eye coordination and paralyzing terror when playing games. My favorite games are survival-horror FPS! In other words, I’m really terrible at video games. I am trying to improve my abysmal skills though: I’ve mastered a crouch jump. Feel free to weep for me. Something else you might like to know: I watch a lot of video games instead of play them. This is mainly due to my terror/incompetency, but I am going to try to play most of the games I discuss in multiple blog posts on here! Wish me luck… My favorite games: Half-Life2, Bioshock Infinite, The Last of Us, Portal, Portal 2, Bioshock, Dishonored, Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead. I love to learn about new games, so please let me know if you find a good one.
